Abstract:

N-doped nano- TiO2 photocatalysts, prepared through hydrolysis of TiCl4 with tetrabutylammonium hydroxide followed by calcination at 400 °C or at 350 °C, are active in complete mineralization of 4-chloropheneol and Fe3+ -doped systems, prepared using flame spray pyrolysis method, are active in photocatalytic mineralization of oxalic acid, under visible light illumination. The samples were illuminated in situ at 298, 77 and 250 W high-pressure mercury lamp. Bare and doped photocatalysts were investigated by XRD, EPR and FTIR spectroscopy.

Our recent results on features of N- and Fe-doped TiO2 und UV and Vis light illumination at different wavelengts will be presented. The nature of paramagnetic centers, their dynamics under illumination, and probable mechanisms of photooxidation will be discussed.
