One and two dimensional graphene structures as substrates for switchable molecules and nanoscopic particles as digital units

A research group within the Hannover School for Nanotechnology has invented a technique for producing large amounts of graphene containing fibres by electro-spinning (patent granted). Task of this project is the interdisciplinary work on employing these fibres as substrates for switchable molecules (provided by group Renz) and nanoscopic particles (provided by group Dorfs). The focus of this work group is improving and functionalizing the graphene structure of the fibres. Synthesis of molecules and particles is intended by the two other groups.
Further on the employment of the gained knowledge of fibre production (1D nano-structure) should be extended to the fabrication two dimensional graphene containing structures. Basic work is done (first devices are build), a further improvement is desired.
This task is suitable for physicists, chemists and engineers with materials scientific background. All work has a strong reference to applied science and engineering. Nevertheless, a successful PhD is target of all undertaking and with this any candidate should focus on the aspect of work which suits him (or her) best.
