Building work of the scientific new building has begun

Grand laying the foundation stone under presence of Minister of Science Lutz Stratmann at 5th October 2007.

Since beginning of September 2007 the excavators are rolling, i. e. the building work of the new building Laboratory of Nano and Quantum Engineering (LNQE) has begun at Schneiderberg 38, 30167 Hannover, Germany. The construction time of the 12.8 Mio. Euro build takes presumably 18 month. The daily construction progress can be tracked with the Webcam of the LNQE.

The grand laying the foundation stone was at 5th October 2007. The Greeting were given by Dipl.-Ing. Matthias Reinhard (head of public project management Hannover), Prof. Dr. Erich Barke (president of Leibniz Universität Hannover), Lutz Stratmann (minister for science and culture of Lower Saxony), and Prof. Dr. Rolf Haug (speaker of the executive board of the LNQE). All four speakers emphasized the great importance of the building project for the university and for the State of Lower Saxony.

"The laying the foundation stone of the Laboratory of Nano and Quantum Engineering is for the university and science location Hannover one of the most significant of this year." said minister Stratmann. President Barke emphasized the importance of the new building for the Leibniz Universität Hannover: "With the scientific new building the Leibniz Universität Hannover becomes a real, spatial basis for the interdisciplinary division nanotechnology. In the sense of the new guiding principles of Leibniz Universität Hannover good general conditions as a basis for excellence were created. With the new building the Leibniz Universität Hannover wins on international competitiveness and sustainability." Prof. Haug sincere thanked in the name of the whole LNQE all people of the project for the new build.

On the execution of laying the foundation stone a copper box containing a newspaper, Euro coins, and an annual report 2006 of the LNQE was walled in.

While the following drink to which the head of public project management Hannover, Mr. Reinhard, invited, all guest over sparkling wine and pea soup were able inform themselves on the exterior views and construction plan of the new build by the architecture firm KSP Engel and Zimmermann.
