Prof. Dr. Michael Zopf is a subgroup leader at the Institute of Solid State Physics in the group of Prof. Dr. Fei Ding. In September 2022, he had received a grant of 4.3 million euros from the BMBF to establish the research group "SemIQON" within the funding line "Quantum Futur 2". SemIQON stands for "Semiconductor Integrated Quantum Optical Network". On the basis of semiconductor nanostructures and microelectromechanical systems, a (hybrid) quantum photonic integrated circuit is to be developed that will enable the construction of a nano-photonic network of quasi-identical, entangled semiconductor quantum dots. He has now been appointed Junior Professor W1 with tenure track to W2 at Leibniz University Hanover.
