On April 19, 2024, Prof. Xiaoying Zhuang from the Institute of Photonics at Leibniz University Hannover and Prof. Patricia Crifo from Ecole Polytechnique were honored with the "Qidi" award. They were recognized for their exemplary contributions to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The award ceremony took place at the residence of the French Consul General in Shanghai and attracted numerous guests from the academic and business world.
The "Qidi" Award was established by the Alumni Association of Tongji University in France and annually honors two female scientists or engineers who have contributed to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals set by the United Nations Member States in 2015. This award honors Professor Wu Qidi, former President of Tongji University and former Vice Minister of Education in China, for her work in promoting Franco-Chinese cooperation in the field of education. One of the main aims of the award is to highlight female scientists and engineers and promote examples of women's success to inspire young girls.
